Overlay welding

Overlay welding

Overlay welding for high sealing strength

Overlay welding is usually understood to mean the application of an additional layer to a metallic base material using a welding process with the aim of achieving greater wear resistance against abrasion, erosion, cavitation and corrosion.

The type of material to be applied (e.g. hardfacing, manganese hard steels, austenites, nickel-based alloys, Inconel, cobalt-based alloys, stellites and many more) is determined by the contact media and the prevailing operating conditions such as pressure and temperature.

HAANE welding systems uses all common and modern welding processes to design complete, user-specific production systems for your welding production

The application of a metallic layer to a base material using one of the arc welding processes UP, MIG-MAG, or plasma / TIG. The deposited material can be chemically different to achieve the desired properties or, as an “additive manufacturing process”, chemically the same.

Shaping welding is also carried out both for repair purposes – restoring the old contour – and for new parts. Here, the final contour of the finished part is produced very economically in that local material increases are not achieved by removing the large remainder, but by adding and applying the small, raised area, e.g. applications for grout joints on monopiles.
